Steps to organize a fundraising event

1. Get your activity approved by AFPAD.

To do this, fill out the fundraising activity project form. A member of our staff will contact you to assist you within ten days of your sending in the form.

2. Set up an organizing committee.

Surrounding yourself with enthusiastic, available and friendly people is the key to success! Do not forget to plan for enough volunteers to do all the tasks related to your activity.

3. Define your goal.

Set a financial goal that's realistic and easy to measure.

4. Plan on holding a brainstorming session.

Get together with the members of your organizing committee and let your imagination run free.

5. Choose an appropriate activity.

To rally success and pleasure, choose a project that can be convenient for your committee members with respect to their availability, their abilities and their personal interests.

6. Define your targeted public groups.

Whom does your activity apply to? Who can it be of interest to? Who can take part?

7. Set an appropriate date.

Choose a date that is convenient for the members of your committee as well as those whose interest you wish to arouse towards your activity.

8. Adopt a budget.

The more you can decrease spending by calling on sponsors, the more income you can generate!

9. Promote your activity.

By giving you the green light to go ahead and organize a fundraising activity, AFPAD allows you to use its name and logo. However, it is compulsory to subject your activity's promotional material for approval before getting it printed or releasing it to the media.

10. Collect the funds.

Once the activity is completed, the profits must be turned over to AFPAD within 45 days. Inquire with our staff to find out which conditions apply to the issue of tax receipts to donors or participants.

11. Say Thank You!

Thank all those who contributed to the success of your activity. Do not forget to inform them about the sums gathered and about how successfull the fundraising activity was.
